Propeller nut

Hi I just bought a used suzuki dt65hp
The propeller is held on with a locking nut not a split pin style nut.
There is a hole in the shaft for a split pin but a locking nut was fitted

Any thoughts

Get a castle nut & a cotter pin. all stainless steel.

Thanks guys although I just noticed that the castle nut won't go on far enough to get the pin in.
Also the last washer before the nut is splined but no splin extends past the prop so it's sitting on thread.
I'm wondering if its the wrong prop (to deep) so who ever fitted it could not get a castle on it and used a locking nut

Any ideas
