Hello - I am new to this forum and recently bought a 2006 Tahoe 195 Deck boat with the 4.3L Alpha 1 lower trans. We noticed the other day that the prop was slightly bent on 2 fins. So I have been looking for a stainless steel replacement for the OEM Alum that is on it. Figured I could use the Alum as a spare if needed.

I have been looking at the Solas Titan (141/2 X 23) and the Rapture (141/4 X 23) to replace the OEM 14x23 that is on it.

Anyone had any experience with these 2 manufacturers any bad / good points I should be aware of.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Propeller Replacement

You might want to stick with Aluminum for awhile,.........
Til you figure out Where the Realestate is........

A SSteel Prop will be more apt to take Out Awhole Lot More Part$ if you strike Bottom..........

No Disrespect,..... Just a thought............

Btw,.............. Welcome Aboard to the forums here at iboats.............

Re: Propeller Replacement

You really should ask this in the prop forum, not the engine forum. I would second bondo's suggestion about using alum for awhile instead of SS. If you already bent that new prop and did not notice that youhit something. A SS will tear more parts up in your drive instead of bending the prop blades.

With that said, I have a SS rapture 14.25x17 on my boat and like it just fine. It is the only prop that has been on my boat since I got it.

Re: Propeller Replacement

I run a solas 14.25x19 4 blade on bigger water, awsome prop. It'll take a hit on wood (logs/sticks) in the river with no damage. Rocks and pipes would be another story. For fishing the smaller waters, aluminum is the only way to go as a lot of that takes place in shallow water. Once your familiar with your 'real estate' as was mentioned, I don't believe you'll be dissappointed with SS.

I won't go stainless where we boat - too many things to hit. We've had our current boat for less than two years and have gone through two props and the third is slightly dinged up.

Tahoe, If the water has a sand bottom without rocks, a SS prop will outlast an aluminum 10::1 or more. If you might hit rocks, stick with aluminum.
