As far as I can tell, the forum rules preclude offering to trade something. Where do you fellows go to try and trade props rather than buying them and letting them cause they weren't the right one?

Re: Propeller trading question

Mercury/Mercruiser has a program through some of their dealers that allow you to try out props. But that is only when you buy a prop from them.

We always borrowed props from friends before we bought anything.

Re: Propeller trading question

Very few people in the Annapolis area own antique Bayliners with Force engines and the few I know have 19 pitch props.

Re: Propeller trading question

The engine is an 85hp Force swinging a 13x19 prop. It usually turns 5000 and it is well tuned and adjusted. I want to get a 13x17 more for slow speed running to get it out of the 2000 range when I have to go through numerous no wake zones. It is not happy at 2000 and does better at 2500.

The decrease in pitch should put me in the ball park and give me a better ride.

I only fish with the boat and rarely run it at WOT as the Chesapeake does not permit it to often. The speed loss with the 17 won't any issue.
