Propeller turning when starting

hello.. I have a 1969 85hp Johnson Hydroelectric serial number J3035751 model number 85esl69s. When turning the key the propeller turns in aclockwise motion as the starter engages the flywheel. Is this normal? Or something else to repair. Thanks

That's normal lajmap. These electric shifts default to forward gear when the engine is shut down or power is lost to the shift solenoids. Once the engine starts and the shift pump starts to work, it'll go into neutral.
