My two batteries are completely dead! (Not even the gauges will come up) I have a battery selector switch on the boat. My question is: can I charge both batteries through the switch by connecting to one of the batteries or do I have to charge the batteries individually? 2nd- Do I have to disco the batteries from the motor before charging the batteries?
Motor is 125hp '98 Force. Thanx for your help

Re: Proper battery charging

Just put the switch on one battery or the other, or none, and apply two seperate battery chargers.

You could do one at a time but it could take a while.
FYI
If they are all the way dead, some batteries just won't come back from dead or may become problamatic after a severe discharged condition.

Re: Proper battery charging

I would disconnect the batteries and charge them with only one battery hooked up to a charger at a time. If you have a volt meter, I would let the battery sit for a day and check it's voltage, then connect it to the boat, a few hours later check the voltage again and see if there is any drop in voltage.......you might have something on the boat draining the batteries.
