proper gear lube?

hey guys i was just about to fill my mercs LU up with some lower unit oil seen some castrol hypoy c 80w 90 in the grage is this stuff ok to throw in there? the manual says only use super duty cause automotive foams too much? so i buy the marine gear lube? or will this stuff sufice? thanks guys

Don't know what merc you're talking about, or what super duty is, but I'll guess.

A Merc V6 LU will do best with Mercury high performance gear lube in it. In a pinch you can use a full synthetic 90W automotive gear lube, but ordinary GL5 is not sufficient either in film strength or in water suspension.

im talkin about a 9.8 hp... so would i be able to use this oil?
