Hello Everyone!
If you looked at my other other thread, you know I am getting ready to shoot the base-clear on the cowlings of my '93 120. I have the OEM decal set plus two white "Evinrude" for the sides of the cowling. I was not able to find the epaulettes for the sides. Mine were trashed. When I removed the original decals they seemed to have been coated with a clear finish.
To boot, I have not installed decals since I build models as a kid. In other words, I do not know come here from sick-um about what I am doing.
The cowlings are primed, sanded and ready to shoot with base. I thought about shooting the base, followed by a couple of coats of clear, wet sand, install the decals, then finish with a couple more coats of clear, over the decals. This is a guess. There is also a stripe on the bottom of the midsection or on top of the foot. I cannot remember exactly where but I do have digitalis. I believe the stripe was also coated with clear something.
I will gladly accept any and all the help I can get. I do not mind spending the time to do it right. I started this project with the intention of repairing a couple of places of dock rash on the sides of my boat. I now have the whole thing apart and I am restoring it to new condition. One good thing, I fish the Mississippi, Arkansas, and White Rivers and they are all flooding. If the rivers were right and the fish were biting, I may feel a little hurried. I should get everything back together about the time the rivers are back down.
Thanks,
Grits
