Proper motor controls to buy

Hi all,
I recently purchased an old pontoon with a 1973 115hp evinrude model # 115393M. I am replacing the console as well as the old controls. My question is:

What is the proper name of control box I am looking for. It will not be side mount. It will either install in the console where just the handle sticks out or mount to the console with the box and all exposed. I hope this makes sense.

Also, if I buy a new control box will it work for this old motor.meaning will the shift /throttle cables work on both ends. Where is a good place to buy a control box?

Thank you in advance for any advise,

Curtis

Believe that would take the old Power Pilot control box (single lever, side mount) -- big red plug. That at least would be the easiest installation -- but side mount.

No Title

OMC called it a binnacle mount control, others simply called it a top mount control. #1 would be the "correct" one for your '73. It was made by Morse controls and is similar to Morse MT-3 but accepts OMC cables. I'b sure there must be others. Morse was bought out by Teleflex.

EDIT: #2 is for your motor (the upper one in the picture)

Thank you 2 for your input. I guess maybe I wasn't very good at explaining what I need. I am wanting to buy "new" control box, not what was originally supplied with the motor. And i didn't say this in my original post but I also need to know what cables to buy to fit a "new" control box to the 73 motor.
Thanks again

OK, by "new", you mean currently available off-the-shelf controls? That's easy.

Personally, I like the looks of the Uflex low profile in chrome. That kind of goes with '73 styling. Uses Uflex cables also available here.
Your preference may vary.

You may or may not know that the 73 model V-4 motors were an " oddball year"-----That is nothing from the 72 model fits on them and internal engine parts for 74 model powerheads were different too.-----I would do a thorough check on this 115 motor.-----Start the thing up before spending any coins on it.

Thank you both for your replies. This motor had sit for several years. I have run a compression test with results of 120 on 3 cylinders and 122 on the other.I have replaced the water impeller and carb kits. The ole girl seems to be running fine, idles as it should. Haven't had it on the water yet, just on muffs. I did not know it was an "odd ball" but that sounds just like my luck. My plan is to run it until it proves not to be reliable then of course it will have to go away. I have the original controls for it and I might use them, I did not realize new controls were so expensive. The old ones seem to work properly just old and weathered looking.

Thanks again guys,
