Hi guys!

Im having some trouble finding a proper oil pan dipstick for my boat motor project i've been working on this pas winter. I got a sbc 350 5.7 out of a 1987 corvette. I have the center rise manifolds on it so its a tight fit between the head and valve covers and the manifolds. Can someone point me in the right direction to get a proper dipstick tube... I ordered a regular sbc dipstick and tube But its not tight enough to the block and is not long enough to reach past the valve covers...

Thanks in advance!

Since you told us that, folks may be jumping up and down about automotive versus marine engines. That being the case, tell us that all of the electrical, ignition and fuel related components are marine ? (I hope) or else Booommmm !!!!

Anyway. for the dipstick, you will have to get the tube and stick that are used for the marine engines (Mercruiser or Volvo) . . . they are longer and lead under the exhaust manifold towards the front of the engine. there might be a bit of guess work as to the right one, but if you look up for a Mercruiser 5.7, then you might be in the right ballpark.

I mostly stripped all other parts off of my old marine 283. Everything in there is for marine applications... The old dipstick tube was snapped off the 283 block so i couldnt use it on the new one. I've searched numerous hours online and still nothing.. I cant seem to find maine tubes..

Thanks again!
