proper prop pitch?

I have a 225 hp suzuki on a 26 foot cuddy cabin . Whide open throttle rpms are 5000 according to suzuki engine red line is 5600 should i reduce the pitch? or is 600 rpm short of redline acceptable? The boat planes out quickly loaded or empty. would I pick up top speed by reducing the pitch ? would I increase my fuel economy ? <br />thankyou for your input

You are operating close enough to the max RPM that reducing pitch will probably reduce your top speed but improve acceleration. A two inch reduction in pitch would net about a 400 RPM increase which would be ok. If your performane is acceptable now a change is probably not justified unless you need more acceleration for towing skiers etc. Lower pitch prop's tend to give better low speed control as well.
