How can I find out what the proper tach would be for my E70TLCRD Evinrude?
I looked in my manual but it doesn't say how many poles or pulses that engine puts out. It only says, make sure you install the correct tach or it will damage your ignition sys.
Please help.
Thanks

Re: Proper Tach ?

You just stole someone elses thread. Please post future questions in a new thread. Jumping in on someone elses thread makes it tough for us to keep track of who is who and what problem we are discussing.

RBBROX - Tachometers are very generic. Just buy one for an outboard. There is a setting on the back for the number of pulses. Yours would be set to 12P. Wiring instructions are provided with the tach. Check your control box right under the key. If you have a three pin plug there, that's the tach connection. Buy the electrical harness at the same time to save yourself some wiring time.
