just thought i should share this with you guys... might get a chuckle out of it....

So sunday a few friends and I stopped where out for a motorcycle ride and stopped at Arbys to eat lunch. Eating lunch my cuz said "hey look at that nice maxum coming down the road..." So i looked and as he crossed a set of railroad tracks you could see the bow bounching up and dow. When he got closer to us you could plainly see that the winch strap was overtop of the bow roller... and the bow was several inches away from the roller

So we see him head on his was and we got on the bikes and continued to willow bay where we are camping and boating next weekend. We arrived at willow bay i seen the same idiot there with the maxum boat.... so it looked like he arrived safely... and btw the bow strap was the same way.

Well, I must admit to being one of those idiots.... Never having owned a boat before I didn't know the winch strap went UNDER the bow stop. It was above the stope when I bought it and I've just keep using in the way. I'll adjust it tomorrow night before I use it again.

Also the boat did not have transom straps either.... At least I put those on before I took it out.

This forum is useful to newbies like myself to find out what we are doing wrong!

if my theory is correct the winch rope comes up inbetween the 2 rollers and the hook ends up resting in the middle??

It can be set up that way. What matters is that the strap/cable is straight to the bow eye and not running over/under a roller; this includes while retrieving. One of my trailers has the bow eye between the rollers like yours; works fine after 20 years.
