proper water discharge on alpha one stern

I understand most things with it but were is all water suposed to come out of stern drive, Wether with water muffs or in the water.I replaced water pump, and all that stuff. This is 84 chris craft with 228, but the stern is off of 87 260. It spits water and steam all over the transom alittle out of the tall tale, but there is a clean stream of water coming out of the bottom of lower end were it meets the prop!!

Actually sounds right. I would say that it should be coming out of the prop itself too depending on how the prop and "bullet" line up, but this is minor unless it indicates that the prop is not installed correctly. They tend not to pump water out of the prop if they are tilted up much. The water fills the bullet until it drains out where the bullet and prop meet. . . .

granted i don't have a v8 nor an alpha1. but i do have a mc-1 drive. very similar to an alpha1. this is what i think the discharge should look like..

water out the prop hub, water out the pee hole in the ft. of the bullet, water out both idle relief ports in the gimble housing. also, notable lack of water flow out the sides of the muffs. when the engine isn't running water just squirts out the side of the flusher that's clamped onto the drive. when ya start the engine, the water stops squirting out the side of the cups and is sucked up by the impeller to feed the engine cooling system.

if my water discharge looks much different than this while on the hose. i would feel somethings up and investigate..

Yeah, water all over the place sounds pretty normal...

I like it water all over the place, not to far off, it just doesn't come out the prop hub it comes out before it. I need to run it more and check again, I'll get over there tomorrow. Thanks
