I have been in a discussion with a number of people who feel that on an inboard type ski boat, a 4 bladed prop will out perform (handling less prop wash etc) a 3 bladed prop. Has anyone had any pratical or hands on experience in determining the facts around this issue? I would like to find out difinitively if the theory holds water or not (sorry about the pun).

Re: Props: 3 VS 4 Blades

In general: More blades makes a smoother thrust. Causes less vibration and has less slip. Other benefits are aimed at the outboard/outdrive market as they're supposed to solve cavitation, lack of trimability etc.

Your prop runs under the boat and doesn't have those problems.

Prop design also is about blade shape, blade area, blade tip speed and more.

I'd suggest you look at http://www.miwheel.com/MIWheel/propit/main.htm
