Propshaft HP

On a sterndrive, is the HP listed on the motor Propshaft, or crankshaft. If it is propshaft, what year did they make the change. Thanks

Sterndrives are rated at the crank. outboards have been rated at the prop since 1980 give or take a couple years.

Mercruiser, at least this year are listing their hp at the propshaft, I was just wondering if they had in previous years. That is according to the website. Anybody know the percentage that you lose from crank to prop on average?

sterndrives are rated at the propshaft.....I am not sure what year things changed, 1987 or 1988...prior to that, everything was crank rated.....rough percentage, 5%........
