I just left the Dallas boat show and pulled the trigger on a Four Winns SS Signature. Blood red. Got a ton of extra with it (wake board ski's 2 vests anchor, ropes, i-pod hook up, covers) What sold me on this boat was the side exhaust cut-out you can toggle from rear exhaust to side above water exhaust with a flip of a switch. Its so new heres the only pic I can find of it. Oh Volvo 5.0 carb engine. My test drive is Thursday Im pumped!!! http://www.rodinsmarin.se/BATAR/BATMODPR/FourWinns/32-SS Teaser Flyer.pdf

For similar hotrod treatments also check out Checkmate, Crownline, Ebbtide, Larson, and Reinell. That loud exhaust will make you some friends and some enemies.

Kelly Cook

Re: Proud new owner of a Four Winns 200SS Signature

I looked at them all. It came down to the: Moomba Outback :not a fan of stern drive
Crownline 21 w/LPX package: 7K out of my budget
Vip 202: nearest dealer 200 miles away
Tahoe Q7i: ranked worst on JD Powers for fit and finish
Glastron GXL205:dealer 200 miles away
So I went with the Four Winns 200SS because. $750 worth of goodies (anchor, jackets, skis, wake board, ropes, tube,)(given to me by Four Winns Regional sales manager)WELL known first class dealer local (Phil Dill Boats)Lifetime hull warranty that is transferable. Four Winns makes their own trailers. Free cockpit & forward covers. Bimini top, Thur side exhaust. Docking Lights. Added I-pod hook up (Four Winns Regional added again). Stereo Remote at helm. Tinted low-profile windscreen. 6-months Sirius satelite radio. AND ITS BLOOD RED! And still kept it under 30K out the door.

As for being loud, I own a Harley with wide open exhaust and a very modded out Jet Ski with EXTRA loud exhaust. I come to learn theres is a time and place for knowing when to be quiet and when to be loud.

I do like some aspects of FI system, but i'm a wrencher from way back, and be knew i'm scared of it. I can rebuild a carb in my sleep. Plus I can slap a Holley 750 on that motor and a NOS fogger kit and make it pull as hard as I chose. (No plans on doing that but I got it all sitting in my shop if I need it.)

Thanks for the headsup on the prices TXJOLE. It's good to know that some FW dealers are undercutting Crownline. I'm sure you will find some LPX rigs on the lake who will want to "play" ;)

Kelly

Deals done! Test drove the Larson and Four Winns SS. Got the SS pick it up Saturday, then to the stereo shop for some lights and couple more speakers. Damm I love that captains exhaust

Cool deal that you could get test drives. Feel any differences between the FW and Larson?

Kelly

Re: Proud new owner of a Four Winns 200SS Signature

The Larson was nice. I just could not get past the ladder cut-out filler in the rear. They added a swim deck and instead of changing the mold they just glued a hunk of plastic in the spot of the old ladder hole. I kinda felt this was cheesey, and I feel if they save a buck on that what else did they try to save a buck on. The Four Winns rode nice too. It was cold and white capping, but still a smooth ride. Both had captains exhaust so it wasnt down to that. I got the extended warranty ($1000) which gave me 6 years on the motor, bumper to bumper and trailer so that also played a factor. I'm very happy with the buy I been shopping and reading for 2 years and feel I made a good buy.

The Larson Senza is their less expensive line, aimed to compete with Bayliner, Glastron SX, and Tahoe. Not up to the Four Winns level. Larson's LXi series has the swim platform surface molded in, no need for an ESP option. 'Tis curious that Larson chose the cheaper Senza model for this hotrod treatment instead of their LXi.

Kelly

I dont mind loud boats for a while, but jetskis are just annoying, and when they are loud, people get angry. They've been banned from the lake I go to and I'm glad. Noise for noise's sake is unnecessary. Loud pipes on a bike may save your life. Loud jetski? No good reason I know of.
Sorry, just my opinion.

Re: Proud new owner of a Four Winns 200SS Signature

You get a loud Jet Ski by reducing the size of the water box (muffler). Less water box, less restriction. Less restriction more air moving. More air faster revs. The key is to get air in the motor fast, but just as important to get it out just as fast. I havent even ridden a Ski in the last 2 years. I got 2 in the shop and enough parts to more then likely build 2 more. Here in Texas we have lakes that are known more for "hell raisers" and lakes known for cruisers. Never had anyone approach me about my volume yet. So it must be ok RIGHT?

Nope, that's just another myth perpetuated by a**holes that want to justify their disregard for the people around them.

Just like boaters with loud exhaust.
