PT plywood for decking on a 1973 16ft starcraft SS

Hi. New to the forum and to boating. Been reading some of the posts and it seems there is a lot of knowledge here. My question is I was going to use PT plywood for the new decking on my boat. My process was to cut the pieces to fit, remove the pieces and epoxy the edges and bottom really well. Then epoxy the top side. Then lay the decking back in the boat and screw the plywood down on the boat. Put glass matting on the seams and then recoat with resin. Then put a non skid surface down.
Boat prep: remove all old wood. Clean aluminum. Put a bead of good silicone the full length of the stringers and put a bead of silicone on the contact points of the outer edges. Let dry to form a rubber contact point (boat builder from florida suggested this). Screw floor down with SS screws and silicone sealant. Put plenty of silicone along edges of decking that are close to and next to the outer hull?.
My questions: does this sound like the proper way to install? What type of silicone? How much fiberglass resin will it take? What about weight? Do I need to wrap plywood edges with matting or just resin? What abouty spray can undercoating the inside bottom of the boat.(Note: took the boat to the car wash to clean the inside after removing the floor, put the plug in the boat filled with water and checked for leaks. 0 leaks.) Last, am I missing any tricks and what are they??? Thank you

Crazy Welcome to iboats and once we see pics of said SS the Starcraft club.

Ok now to your questions dont use PT in a Tincan boat the copper in the wood doesnt mix well with the aluminum in the boat just use regular exterior grade plywood.

Before putting in the new deck get a 2 pound /1 quart kit of Gluvit and coat all the seams and rivets from inside the boat .This will seal everything up and keep you from having leaks down the road after the decks in. The rest of your plans sound ok to me though.

Thanks for your quick reply. I'll use the regular plywood and the gluvit. Do you have a good source for the gluvit. Also do you have an idea of how much resin it will take for the decking. thanks again.

Do you know where to look for neat pics of restored boats before and after. Also I am amazed at how well built this boat is, Are the newer starcraft boats this well built?

Hey Crazy probably one of the best looking restos on a starcraft is in the completed section right below this one it is Northbeaches Liquid Limo and it shows pretty well the process he went through restoring her .

The Gluvit you can get here at the iboats store look at the top left of the screen ( boat parts and accessories ) or like I did at a local marine supply ( dealer ) . I got a 2 pound kit which the consensus says is plenty for a 16' boat. You are also welcome to check out my resto thread in the link in my post here . I have just put her back on the trailer and will be doing the Gluvit and deck next on her . I am pretty sure a gallon of resin should be plenty to do the deck on a 16' boat.
