Now that's interesting....Can you tell me what size (with thread count) the metric bolts were and were they class 8 bolts??

They are 6 X 1 X 50mm (60 would have been better) and no they were just cheapos I got at Home Depot. I didn't feel like going all the way to town for good ones. One of them did bend a little but they did the job. Next time I will get better quality bolts.

Good luck Moi hope every thing works out good for you keep me informed if you run in to any glitches. I can not start on my motor till spring time when I get the boat home out of winter storage. I will be working on my motor stand in the mean time. MERRY CHRISTMAS and keep in touch.

I've got an oversized garage and my boat is in there with the van and the SUV. I'm hoping to be able to open up the motor & access the flywheel to get some measurements for the puller fabrication sometime this week. Will try to update as things progress. AND BTW, Happy New Year to all!!!

Thanks for that bhile. Was hoping the bolts were 10 mm and that I'd be able to copy your success. Oh well, we'll sort it all out eventually.......

OK Moi have fun and you might also want to make that center support rod that pilots into the tapped hole on the power head so when you go to press off the flywheel you don"t mess up the threads on the power head one more thing I read in the repair manual is that when you pull off the pull start be careful that the recoil spring stays inside the housing from what I am looking at it looks like there are clips that hold the spring in place the but it also states a word of caution when removing the pull start so the spring does not uncoil! On that center support rod I gave the dimensions in a previous post if you need the dimensions let me know and I will re-post them.
