dont spin it with an impact gun! if you go the drill route use a basic half inch drill.

I have a 1/2" drill, I'm just a little confused as to how and where, the connection is made between drill & motor???:D

The top nut on the flywheel.

I'm with you there, I don't see how the socket, attaches to the drill. An impact I get, drill....no? Maybe I should just get a canoe

Get a old 1/2" drive extension, cut the female end off so that it will fit into a 1/2" drive electric drill, put the proper socket on the other end... Bingo!

Yep, I did that trick. Works great. Just get the chuck good and tight.

OK, that makes sense. I had nothing in my toolbox to connect them, but I do have a surplus of 1/2" drive extensions.

another question, referring back to this photo, involving the 2 screws I was not supposed to remove. In the picture, I'm holding the assembly in the way it came out of the carb. But, despite the angle it sits at, the butterfly will not move in the throat. As I mentioned, the metal in the throat is pitted, and I think may be interfering with it opening. I checked my service manual, does anyone have a picture of how that assembly looks in place. The ends have slightly different cutouts, maybe it was taken apart once before and reassembled wrong? Maybe I'm mistaken, and have it reversed.

If you have pitting in the venturi, then it may be a good ide to replace it.

try some boaters wool. its like steel wool, but made from brass. lightly sand the area and butterfly. or some scotch pads. if u look at the butterfly, it should have a bevel? the bevel should line up with the venturi. make sense?

Re: Pulled carb, found this

Yes it does, thanks dino. The "Throttle Valve" (per the Evinrude parts diagram) has a mark on it from where it had been contacting the throttle shaft. The scotch pad is a good idea...I see what you mean about a bevel, its very slight, but its there. There is pitting right where it had been hanging up, right at the point of the corrosion. It should clean up easy enough. Thanks for the help AGAIN!
