I have read far too many threads on here and was convinced that my gimbal was shot, u-joints have exploded their needles all over the place, bellows were leaking, my transom rotting away as we speak and my motor mounts were made of mush causing the engine to be waaaaayyyy out of alignment.

Much to my surprise the bellows were dry, gimbal was smooth, grease was clean, u-joints were good and the alignment was fine. Hey, maybe the transom is still rotten...

Anyway, the job was super straight forward. I did it by myself with no hoist or stand. The seal kit was $4 at my local boat shop and they rented me the alignment tool.

The drive was not pulled last year but was aligned and greased the year before. We probably only put 20hrs on the boat last year though. But this does prove how important preventative maintenance is.

I just sent a message to the previous owner and thanked him.
