Re: pulling a stringer drive

thanks again for your help. I pulled the heads off the motor hoping maybe i can salvage the block and save me some time but i had no luck. the damn block is cracked.. anyway tomorrow i will be pulling the motor. my question how do i support the drive and do i need to? on another note i have about 2 feet of space to slide the motor away from the drive before i lift it. its a old larson with a ton of room in the engine compartment. with the top half of the motor off it makes it real easy to get the all the bolts and disconnect the motor from the housing. so all i have is a few bolts from the housing...... the motor mount bolts and from there i should be able to pull the motor correctagain i have about 2 feet from the front pully to slide the motor fowards before i lift it. Is there anything else i should know before i start this project tomorrow? thank you in advance....

You could make a wood brace to go between the outdrive and the trailer. That would be my recommendation. I think many people pull the motor without any bracing but as mentioned above, I wouldn't take the chance. It would put too much stress on the rear mounts and boot.
