Hello I am trying to pull the flywheel on my 40hp Johnson as I type this what is the thread size for the puller holes in the flywheel and what size is the nut that holds the flywheel on the crank? I think they are 5/16 but I don't know what threads they are and I dont want to screw it up! Thanks

5/16-18 = course 5/16-24 = fine

You should be able to look at the threads and tell if they're fine or course.

g'luck & c/6

Hooty

When I pulled the flywheel on my 60 hp rude I used a wheel puller kit it comes with several lenght and size and thread bolts. If you don't own one they don't cost much. The parts store has a loan a tool program where you leave a deposit till you return the tool.Might want to check in you area auto parts store.
