I have the manual, and I'm ready to bust into the power head. I'm almost positive I lost the rod bearing on the lower cylinder this weekend. Before I break into it I was wondering if any one had any tips or suggestions. I'm a little worried about shearing off some of these bolt heads in particular. Anything would be great. Thanks.

Re: Pulling the power head on 84 60hp johnson

I messed up the threads on an Evinrude 15 when tearing down to replace a crankshaft. Bummer! Had to get another case.
My advice:
1 Impact wrench for stuck bolts.
2 Small carbide drill and EZ-outs.
I didn't have the carbide drill and what I used walked off the hardened bolt and into the aluminum casting.
Sorry I've not got something better.
No fear!

appreciate the help, the motor may not be worth saving but I have to open it up to find out.

Here is a tip for getting the most out of your Seloc Manual. Get the grill going and grap a beer. Enjoy the beer. When the grill gets nice and hot throw the manual on the grill and watch it burn. That is the most you will get out of it.
