pulse pack upgrade 72' 100 hp

I am repalcing the pulse pack on my 72' evinrude 100hp and I got the CDI model I noticed it said to remove the clipper circut. Just wanted to confirm that was true. Also is there anything else I need to consider or take note of before I swap the pulse pack out?

I have to assume that CDI builds voltage spike protection in their units, therefor the external one is no longer needed. They are pretty smart, so I'll trust them.

Thanks guys! looks simple enough... Just didn't want to destroy a new pulse pack because im sure there not easy to return. I like CDI for the most part as a matter of fact I just upgraded my rectifier to the CDI regulated rectifier and must say its nice not having to fill the battery every other time I go out.
