Re: pules pack wireing

that long black wire grounds with the ignition coil ground. probably a metallic plate on one end of the coil that grounds when bolted on. that's what my ignition coil looked like anyhow.

Re: pules pack wireing

on my coil i have 2 wires 1 is gray with black line with that metal plate you are talking about it is located on far left of the rail, and i have a gray wire with a blue line that is screwed down 6 spaces in. so i think i should bolt it down with the gray and black wire. hey thanks for helping by the way.

Re: pules pack wireing

sounds like you have a sierra or mallory ignition coil. Looks like the same as the CDI model except the cdi doesn't have a ground wire, just a metal sheet that wraps around one end of the coil. I assume when you say the blue wire is attached 6 spaces in you mean terminal #5?

Re: pules pack wireing

on back side of motor close to the top there is a rail that wires are screwed down to it from left to right the first screw is that gray wire with that black stripe and that metal plate on the end of the wire and then the other wire is 6 spaces in from the left. so do i go ahead and screw it down with that metal plate wire .the only problem this motor has is the 2 servos in the bottom gear case hopeing to replace with newer case to a manual shift or find some used servos do to they do not make any more.

Re: pules pack wireing

My coil mounts above the terminal connections. The motor has two bolt holes designed for the ignition coil. My coil only has power wire from pack connected to terminal #5 and high tension wire going to distributor. I attach the long black ground wire from the pack in between the attachment bolt of the coil and the metal wrapping that goes around that side of the coil. As far as if its ok to connect the ground wires of your pack and coil to the mounting screw of your terminal I don't know?? there are several locations above the powerhead to mount grounds.

after looking at wires close there is only a black wire and a blue wire comeing off coil ,wires had a gray hase on them ,my black wire is the one with the metal plate at end. i put the long black wire from pulse pack wire on that one and i have no spark ,should i put the blue wire from coil and long black wire together.dont want to kill pulse pack .

Re: pulse pack wireing

blue is power to coil...should be attached to terminal #5 I believe. No I definately would not connect those wires together. Sounds like you have it right. can you take a photo of your terminals. did you just connect those two black wires together or did you connect them and also ground them?

Re: pulse pack wireing

i put both wires together on 1st terminal which has a longer screw than rest ,bolt goes through terminal onto motor as a ground i assume.

Re: pulse pack wireing

you have your wiring correct? You sure you have power going into your pack? I believe your pack should have one wire going to your coil terminal and another wire that is supplied the 12 v power.

Re: pulse pack wireing

the 6th space on the 1st pic from left to right has blue wire from coil with green wire from pulse pack so that is ok i did not mess with any wires but the pulse pack wires not sure way no spark puzzeled. both black wires from pulse pack are ground wires right.

Re: pulse pack wireing

you have 4 wires coming out from plug right? Two should go to the sensor leads under flywheel, one goes to coil terminal, which appears good on your photo, and the other goes to purple power. You have a manual? The black wires are ground wires.

Re: pulse pack wireing

so let me see, is this motor battery ignition? You have two stator leads, a shift diode, pulsepack, rectifier? Did this motor run fine before?

Re: pulse pack wiring

There is a green wire coming off pulse pack that is attatched to a blue wire which is the coil wire. The green wire is not hot at any time with the key on or off.

Re: pulse pack wireing

ah much better picture..you should have power going into the pulse pack. I just think you should ground your coil and pulse pack(long black wire) some place else. Also are you saying your have no power from the pack because there is no spark coming from the coil or plugs?

Re: pulse pack wireing

i have power to pulse pack ,but there is a green wire comeing out of pack going to coil blue wire that does not get hot at all key on or turning motor over, ya there is no spark on spark plug or coil.wondering if blue wire needs moved to a differnt spot ,and i will move the ground wire some where eles does not hurt for sure.maybe green wire will get hot if i find beter ground ..thanks again if i can get spark i know it will run had it running last summer just lost rev and forward due to servos in bottom .has electric shift,if i can get running i would like to put in a manual shift. if not might just part it out.power head is fine at least last summer.

Re: pulse pack wireing

I was told it was virtually impossible to switch selectric shift to manual. The wiring to pulse pack looks good. I didn't have a chance to look closely at the stator, diode, rectifier wiring. It doesn't look right from initial look, but like I said I didn't look at it close enough yet. I have an extra pulse pack also, but I have to check to see if it will work for your motor.
