I have a 1999 johnson 50 hp electric start remote control. It runs the fuel filter empty above 3000 rpm and does not want to idle.Pump the bulb and it picks up.Cruises at 2000 rpm all day with no problem.Replaced fuel lines, filter, bulb and no venting issues.I plugged the vro oil side and pre mix as of last summer.(no oil alarms)Re did the plug for vro.Looking like fuel pump issue. Can someone point me in right direction for a replacement old style pump that will work?

Re: Pump replacement

If the fuel filter is between the tank and the pump, your problem is not the fuel pump.

Re: Pump replacement

Check for any air leaks.
Check the tank vent.
Check the pickup screen.
Check the anti-siphon valve.
Use 5/16 hose.
Don't use aftermarket primer bulbs, use BRP,Yamaha, Mercury etc brand.
Ditch the in-line fuel filters and get a full-sized water-separating filter.
