Hey another noob here and this my first of many questions to post. I got a good deal on a 89 bayliner capri, w/125 hp force.. the tilt/pump, single ram i believe, doesn't hold position when i get it to the right trim to cruise on the water.. it slowly lowers back down... is this a fix it or a replacement?

Re: pump/tilt slowly lowers?..

I had the same issue with my 1988 85hp on my new to me Bayliner Bass boat. Run it up and it would leak down. I ordered a rebuild kit off of Ebay. ( actually I think the guy is actually a member on here, Rritt, or maybe a coincidence). It consisted of all new O rings, ss bolts and seals for the trim, tilt and shock for $25. Simple straight forward process to remove and rebuild. Took a couple of hours including beer breaks. Now mine work as it should and stays in place.

Check this thread and it should give you a very detailed info on how to fix your T&T lowering problem. The part I had a little difficulty is when opening the little valves where those little seat o-ring are located at. So I bought this clip pliers from HF making the job easy and prevent from scuffing the valves. If there is any advice I can give is, do not disassemble the valve body, instead just remove the shuttle valves off from each sides.
