Re: Purchase of new televison advice

Thanks guys for the good advice, I have a big room to put the TV in and have done alot of homework on the two models I am considering, they seem pretty even and it seems to come down to personal brand preference. I still think I am going to go with the Sony.

I don't know if it's at all important to you, but the Samsung 6-series has some pretty neat internet/network connectivity options available. I didn't look at the Sony. I pulled up the Samsung manual recently (LN46B650) because my dad just bought one and I'm helping him out over the phone/internet.

I'd buy the Sammy. Sony video is waaaaay overrated. Have you looked at LG?

Dude, It's a no brainer. You can't ask for opinions on i-boats and get a clear answer LOL:p The good news is you can't go wrong with either one. I was recently reading up on my Phillips tv's digital natural motion feature and in the review it says that the SONY version of that technology does a better jof smoothing out jitters. The fact that a review for my Phillips (4 months old, 47" 120 Hz with all the bells and whistles) fells the need to mention the Sony as a benchmark would make me lean towards the Sony since I have nothing else to go on.

For what it's worth I bought the Phillips because the picture was noticably better (not just better on paper) than the sony and the samsung.

I have heard the Samsung repair time is terrible.

Well, I pulled the trigger on the Sony, just got it in the mail yesterday. I am now setting it up so I could watch some College Football today, and watch the NY giants kick some Redskin butt tomorrow. All looks real good so far.

Personal history with sony products, everything else seemed equal.
