I recently purchased an 1802WA after doing months of research.

The wife and I scuba dive and we were looking for the following:

1. Able to handle foul weather.
2. Open stern to suit up and store gear.
3. Cuddy cabin for sleeping.

After researching for 3 months, I tested my future Trophy and made the swap (traded my Bayliner). We've had the trophy out several times and it is a dream. The 115 Optimax is perfect for me. Good power (even loaded with gear) and yet I'm amazed and my fuel efficiency. On one trip, the wind and waves kicked up and it just cut right thru them.

Currently my boat is having a 2nd battery installed, VHF Radio and GPS/chart plotter combo.

As with all boats, there are minor items that I wish were changed and most have been addressed on this site. However, these items are minor and I knew them going into the purchase.

My main reason for this post is to say thanks to everyone. Your knowledge was extremely helpful in our decision. Before my test drive, I already felt as if I knew the ins and outs of this model. We are overjoyed to have a boat that meets our needs and also didn't break the bank.

Happy boating.

Re: Purchased 1802WA

Wondering if your boat has trim tabs? I am looking to probably install a set on my 1802WA. I agree about the way the hull rides, I had my boat out in 2 -3 footers & just powered thru the chop , Nice dry ride with an occasional pound. But I was running about 35 MPH. I find that the boat jumps up pretty quick on plane , but likes to fall off if RPMs drop below 3000, so I am looking to install a set of Lenco trim tabs with switch.

Trim tabs are almost a necessity, they compensate for uneven loads, prop torque, and letting you plane at lower speeds, however it'll be in combination with your prop too. I'm in the middle of finding the right prop for my 2302 and I'm on my 3rd prop which I'm confident this is the one! but any how, My lowest speed for staying on plane is approx. 3000 rpms @13.5 14 mph. with my 2nd prop I couldn't get on plane until 4100 rpms. Now with my 3rd choice of props I ?m hoping to stay with 3000 rpms and good mid no.and fuel economy as well as WOT rpms. Sometimes it takes a while to get it all dialed in but in the long run the boat will run its best. Trim tabs oh definitely
