Hello,
I purchased this motor for $60. The Drive shaft is all buggered at the top. Not sure about the end of the crankshaft yet. I think the guy just did not have the lower end seated all the way into place. The top is buggered and twisted. I have not put much time into this motor yet but would like to know of a source to get a new/used shaft. And Is there an easy way to tell if the crank shaft is still good?

Thanks.

You sure it says 64H9E ?
The 64 might be 60 ???
What HP??
Does it have twin carbs?
Maybe try Franz Marine.
Try Google, outboard salvage, antique outboards?

Hi Jerry,
Yes, sure of model #. It's raining right now or I'd go get a picture of the plate.
It's a 6hp, 2 cylinder.

Thanks for the suggestions. Still need to know a good way to check the bottom of the crank for damage.
I really don't want to pull the whole motor apart.

IF?? the top of the shaft has the bent splines???
And the shaft came out(lucky, lucky)usually the shaft gets stuck.
Then the crank should be good.

They sell a bore scope for the new phones.
I saw one about 20$

Or on ebay a used scope goes from 35$ up.
BUT!! get a newer one as the head on the old scope is big and won't go in the spark plug hole.
