Yep..I've got it too.. and it only gets worse. Once you've decked out that boat/trailer combo as much as possible..the you start to realize you need a bigger boat and it starts all over again.:D

Good call on the side guides.

Check http://www.swimplatforms.com/ for your platform. They should be close to you and will save you a couple hundred on shipping. Quote for our deckboat was $1275 shipped to Indiana.

ebay or craigslist for good deals on water toys.

when upgrading your stereo system it's a good idea to add another deep cycle battery.

LED's are cheap and easy to swap out.

Trim tabs IMO aren't necessary on smaller runabouts. Spend money on a four-blade prop instead for a quicker holeshot and quicker planing.

As far as SS prop, see above. I like aluminum.

Agreed on wake tower :)

Just enjoy your boat for awhile before sinking a bunch of money into it (that will happen regularly anyway :D ).

And interestingly enough I think adjustable trim tabs are the single most significant improvement you can make to any v-hull. For me it is the first change I make . . . I like Smart Tabs, but I only recommend them to those who are both wary of cost and are not the type of operator who likes to mess with stuff while underway. If you are a point and shoot type of guy, Smart Tabs, If you would like infinite adjustability for a variety of situations, conditions, weather, loads etc., Helm adjustable all the way.

You don't need help, just more boating stuff, then another boat, a bigger boat, and then a boat for fishing and a second one for family outings, and, and, and .....................See, you don't need help.

You are finding ways to spend money on your boat???

Huh, I thought boating was about saving money and you get it all back when your done?

- gps
- depth finder
- fuel monitor
- new rims for the trailer (gotta look going to and fro)
- extra bilge
- slalom ski
- custom cooler
- custom decaling
- etc....

.....all the best with your therapy...we're always here to lend an ear and help out.

The first step to curing addiction is admitting you have one. The bad news there is no known cure!!!!!

I bought my perfect boat last Oct., it didn't need a thing....Till I got it home and started flipping thru catalogs, dreaming, wanting, ect.... Next thing I knew I was on a first name basis with the UPS man he was stopping at the house so much.

Welcome to a lifelong addiction.

Just to say it, don't get so busy ordering, installing goodies that you overlook regular maintenance (example....when you put the bunks on the trailer check the wheel bearings). ect., ect.

I just purchased a jet boat so I dont have to take out the big boat all the time. Now I want a pontoon and I have to have a STAND UP jet ski. I think I would be satisfied then:)

Yep I got it bad as well....

I have decided in the last few days as I have searched for underwater lights, docking lights, rail mounted grilles, new tube for the summer and`extra covers(because I am convinced that since I have to keep it outside 3 is not enough). That really I just need to be able to go out in the dam boat and that will fix my itching and obsessing over the boat. Just gotta go boating soon!!

Oh by the way I just replaced all the speakers in the boat, it Never stopps.

Some of us suffer from multiple illness'. I have three motorcycles too to accessorize as well. At least I can justify boat stuff as something for the family. Yeah, that's it! ;)

Even on the smaller runabouts like 18'? I figure if you can already plane in a couple seconds spend the money elsewhere :)

Smart Tabs most likely Not. My boat 20ft bowrider planes in Seconds.

The swim Platform I will not even attempt to install myself. I'm afraid to drill into the Transome.

VHF Ship to Shore Radio. "Maybe"

Thanks for the comments.

I think it is fair to question the cost of adjustable tabs on a smaller boat. With that said, it is a big mistake to assume that all you get is lower time to plane. My favorite features for tabs is planing speeds as low as 11 MPH and the ability to adjust for shifting loads. My wife hates it when I ask people to move to balance out a list, or to put more weigh up front. Adjustable tabs eliminate that discussion.

I do agree, however, that 18 feet is close to the bottom of this discussion, primarily due to cost, not due to lack of benefit. Sorry for the Hijack AZ, Dream away . . . :p :D
