Purge fuel pressure

I read on my new fuel filter box that I needed to release the pressure before removing the old filter. How do I do this on a mercruiser 4.3 or do I?

Ya know it would be very helpful to know what your actually working on. I can guess it may be an EFI type but come on give me a hint with maybe a serial number or at least a year

Sorry, thought the post didn't even apply cause of a system error. I just unscrewed it after opening the fuel cap. Not an issue. Thanks anyway.

for future reference, the easiest way is to just not start the engine for a day or two. The fuel pressure will back off on its own.
