When I took off my trim cylinders on my 74 Mercruiser 140 one of the Anchor Springs jumped into the lake.

Was wondering what the purpose was of this spring.

thanks

It's used to ground the rams to the drive. Since the rams are mounted on rubber bushings they are not gounded/bonded to the drive. Without the wire grounding the ram, corrossion is promoted.

Thank You Reel Poor.

I had no idea what it was for and I never, ever would have guessed that.

Once again the vast amount of knowledge on this board came through.

Now if I could just get stuff to stop jumping into the lake.
