Hi all! I'm going to install a push button starter switch on my 97 Larson 226 LXi. Any ideas? Mine is to splice it between the "Run" and "Start" I will place it in a location that will prevent unwated starts but easy accessability. It has a "Normal" ignition switch with a 4 position, accessory, off, run and start selections. Whats your Idea? (I do a LOT of wake boarding, tubing etc and constant turning the key to start wore out my last switch)
Thanks in advance!

Re: Push Button Starter Switch

would this override you neutral safety switch. sounds like a lot of hassle for little relief.

Re: Push Button Starter Switch

Disconnect the starter lead off the original switch and connect it ti one side of your push button and connect the other side to the run connection. Leave the original run connection to the key switch and tee into it. This way the ignition switch will have to be in the run position for the engine to turn over (safety issue)

Re: Push Button Starter Switch

No, Neutral Safety as well as the emergency cut off are still working. The only thing different and thanks for the diagram Drifter, is instead of using the spring portion of the keyed switch, all I do is turn it to the on-run position and push the starter button, actually a little MORE safe than the other way since the button will be in a secluded location. Ski boats have this option for the same reason, it really works that switch out turning it on and off 30-40 times a day.
