I went ahead and put the Alpha one lower on my 228 upper. I have a rebuilt mercruiser 260, 1981 on the upper I believe was letting water in my lower so I switched out to the same year 228 upper and now I'm getting now water flow threw the engine. The 228 upper had been sitting in my shed for a couple years and I thought I had every thing cleaned up. could there be a clog in the upper water passage some where? I put a new impeller in this weekend and we took the boat out with the 260 out drive on it when we came back I inspeckted the drive oil and it was light color, not milky yet but not what it should be but it ran fine on the river and there should be no reason that I can think of why I'm overheating now.
