I put two gallons of premixed gas for the kicker in the tank for the oil injected engine. It is a 1996 40hp Merc. It ran rough and I realized my mistake. I rebuilt the carbs, replaced the fuel lines and flushed the tank. It is still running rough. It idles fin but will only ht a top speed of 10mph compared to before at close to 30 mph. A friend mentioned a sensor that calculates how much oil to inject that might have gone bad. Any suggestions appreciated.

did you replace the spark plugs?you might have a dead one ,as for doing everything that you did just because you had premix in a tank was really not necessary atall.cant hurt but not needed.many injected motors.. required you to add oil to the gas when breaking in.

I really doubt that the premix had anything to do with the engine dropping a cylinder, which is what your trouble sounds like.

Right, not necessary. The ONLY thing that too much oil can cause is fouled plugs, that's all.
