putting seats back on restored floor

Hi fellow boaters- Just want to say that I am thrilled that I found this site. I have gotten a lot of insight on a lot of topics. I just put in a new floor on my '90 Nissan 16 ft. open-bow and now am faced with putting the seats back in. I was thinking about a pedestal on the floor first to raise them up a bit but am wondering about how to anchor them to the floor. Any suggestions? I dont think SS screws would be enough. Thanks for your help!

Ideally, you would have beefed up the underside of the floor before you layed the floor. But.......my uncle put pedestals in his bowrider by laying a block of 2x12 down in a bed of epoxy and then laying bigger sheets of epoxy and 1.5 oz. mat on top of that. Make sure to scuff up the cured fiberglass first so that the new stuff will bond. Then just use SS lagbolts into the block. He covered the block up with matching carpet first and you can barely tell its there.

Try this <br /><br />I made some 1/2" plywood platforms to hold the base to the floor. As the seat is sitting on the stringers I felt i did not need much and there are no screws in the floor.<br /><br />I made a very thick putty from glass fibers and epoxy. It is very strong and I used a rock to hold down the pad for 24 hours. <br /><br />So far they have held up really well. <br />I need to show the finished product but lost a lot of pictures. <br /><br />

Thanks for the help- My original seats I boxed out to about 11" x 45". I thought about making a pedestal about 2" bigger all around. I thought about L- brackets inside and out but not sure of the stability. I can fiberglass the pedestal to the floor and use lag screws to the pedestal, right? Any thoughts? Thanks again!
