was just wondering if someone can tell me the correct way to put together a spark plug wire for my evinrude... the end that goes inside the boot is a little coil looking thing with a hook .. how does it join to the wire?

Push the wire all the way into boot and out. Press spike into wire with pliers. Pull back through until coil is at center top of boot. Done.

Well, different strokes for different folks. Here is what the book sez, (and I agree). Strip about 1/8" insulation off the end of the wire and fray out the strands. Poke the pointy thing into the wire, trying to hit the wire inside as you do. You want the frayed strands to touch the coiled up part, just to make sure you have contact.

Now, put a drop of oil on the coiled up part and shove it into the small hole in the boot. The straight arm goes up (away from the spark plug hole).

I do it like F_R says, did a pair of V8 motors a few years back and thought I had crab claws for hands afterwards.
