When I removed my mag plate to do some other work, I noticed that two of the four screws holding it down were gone. The plate was being held down by just the two shorter ones near the point sets. The two longer ones that go through the coils were missing. So, I went to the boat shop and the parts guy looked up the screw on a microfische parts diagram, he got the part number for the two longer screws and got two of them for me.

So, when I got them home and installed them, they seem to go through the "ring" they attach two and either bottom out on whats below it or hang up on something when you turn the plate part way through the throttle range. When I back the two longer screws out everything seems to turn smoothly.

Am I not installing the mag plate right or are these the wrong screws? At their longest, each screw is 1 and 3/4 inch long..is this right? Thank in advance!

Your friendly neighborhood boat shop gave you the wrong screws. The proper screws should be, from the underside of the screw head to the end of the threaded shank, 1-9/16" long.

I just measured a half dozen of them..... all were 1-9/16" long. Part number 510191.

Thanks once again Joe...you are awesome! I really appreciate you taking the time to measure those! AND getting me the RIGHT Part Number!!! I'll PM you with what happens after I get the right ones.
