I'm looking for information on my boat. I've looked around but cannot find anything. I've got a 15' semi V bottom Quachita boat that as near as I can tell was made in or around 1970. Does anyone have any information on these boats or a web site that might have something? I'm just curious about load capacity, recomended motor size ect....<br />Thanks

Well i've got a 16' v bottom quachita, no plates or anything to distinguish what year it is, it's very heavy and i'm running a 9.8 mercury and that don't seem to be enough. If it's me and another person in it, it has trouble trying to plane out, so i might be huntin me down a 15hp..... great boat all around though. You sit real deep in it, nice.:)

Hey Wizard, that Ouachita is a piece of junk. No motor you ever put on it will work. Might as well just bring it over to my house and I'll take it off your hands as a favor to a fellow Arkie and iboater.;) Joking aside, my buddy has a 15' Ouachita flatbottom. It's powered by a 25 horse Merc, and it is stable, comfy, and FAST. I always tell him I'll fight him for it. I'd call him right now and ask him to read me the capacity info off the plate, but he's blind. I can tell you this though. I've been in it on the Whiter River several times with two other full grown men and a preponderance of gear and it didn't even know we were in there. Find you a 25 and you're set.

Best fit for yours is a 15-20.

Have the 14" Vee nose model bought around 1967. Handed down from my granddad. He'd pack up us kids (4) and we'd head for Sam Rayburn or Trinity Bay. It had a 12 horse Royal and would plane with 2 or 3. In the 70's, my brother would load it down with camping gear for a 5 hour trialer ride to Lake Whitney. Last few years has bee derilect because of trailer issues, but still in good shape except for crackng paint.
Still remember my granddad sitting on the mid bench, me on the tiller, him pointing directions and me getting whiffs of second hand Camel smoke. Lord, I wish for one more trip with him.

I know what you mean. Wish one of the little faces looked like a grown man sobbing. Lost my other grandfather two weeks ago. He was a legend.

In Jr High (early 70's) a friend had one, I guess about 16' fiberglass, cathedral hull, had an 80 on it, that boat would run like a scalded dog. Came from a fishing pro; his family made Hopkins lures.

I've got a 14' 1974 Quachita with a 40 hp Johnson that I bought new in 1975. The tag says it's rated for 50 hp and 450 lb capacity. I need to replace the deck - it has numerous soft spots. I know the transom has been wet to some degree but still seems to be solid. At least I don't see it flex when I pry on the motor. All in all I can't complain, its been a good boat.

Re: Quachita boat information

I have a 16 Ouachita (15.5 foot, actually), beam is about 65". It is a Model 16DSV. Motor capacity is 30, 3 persons @ 150 lbs each, or 750 lbs persons, motor, and gear. All per the BIA certification plate (capacity plate) that is just about gone. It is an open aluminum model with 3 benches and a small bow seat. Is this like yours?
P.s. ... it's Ouachita instead of Quachita :D (I used to use the Q until I too was corrected.
