Quadrajet question

I finally pulled my carb apart for a quick cleaning, and I noticed something. The carb doesn't have the secondary well tubes, and it doesn't look like they were ever in there. Doing some research, I have found one guy who said some marine carbs came without them, but it wasn't all that common. Has anyone else ever seen that? The carb is off of a 1988 OMC 350, Quadrajet # 17059286.

It just took me by surprise. I've had hundreds of these apart in the automotive application, and they all have had them.

Thanks,

Justin

Just a small update on this:

After a few hours of research, (when I should have been working) I found a bunch of cases where they didn't use the secondary well tubes. Even if I did decided to add them, the air horn and main body was never machined to accept them. So I decided to go ahead with the rebuild without them. Below is a picture fresh out of the ultrasonic vapor bath. Lets see if we can fix the slight bog at WOT.

I always find I have to really tension up that spring adjustment for the secondary air valve to get rid of the hesitation/lag going TO wot on any boat I have owned with a Qjet.

The slight bog at wide open is the secondary restrictor plate adjustment.
