After today, my dad has 3 days left until he is able to retire. After 30 years of factory work, he will be DONE. He has been counting down the hours for about a month now. Already he talks about how we are gonna go fishing at least once a week. I will always appreciate him for all he has done. Shortly after I was born he went on 3rd shift so that he could take care of me during the day while my mom worked, getting very very little sleep. He worked that shift for 18 years, and He did it for me and my sister. I myself worked 3rd shift for a year, and I have the utmost respect at how much he has sacrificed.

He will be getting a pension and paid health insurance for 10 yrs, but he still is going to need a part time job. He started looking a few months back, and has landed a job as a rural route driver at the local post office. He fill in once a week on the biggest route in town, and after only a few days of working they are talking about giving him another route.....and then maybe his own sometime soon when he passes a test. He has been working both jobs for a few weeks now, and can't wait to retire.

Oddly enough my mom has found a new job too. She worked at a company based here in Milwaukee for 21 years and then got let go because they were downsizing and moving some jobs out of the country. She has been working at a department store for over a year making half her previous salary. Out of the blue she got a call and they wanted her to work immediately. She is working in the legal offices of a big company now full time on a temporary basis..........but if they like her they will keep her on, an so far they do.
