I have a 1993 WA 22 ft, QUEST Boat,( made by Four Winns ) with a 200 Johnson Engine. It is an excellent boat, very confortable and dry in high tides. Now I have seen near the upper ends of the transom some gelcoat cracks, possibbly due to the Engine vibration. Is that normal? Does someone have a similar boat? Does it worth to repair the gelcoat or they will appear again?

Senor MOTAS,
Is there good, solid transom wood behind the gelcoat and glass at the point of the cracks?
If so, I wouldn't sweat it. Ya see, gelcoat can handle compression loading o-k but tensile (stretching) loading causes it to crack. That's why you can whack it from the outside and not cause damage but hit it a good lick on the inside and it'll crack.
Lettus know.

c/6

Hotty
