IMG_1175.jpgHi guys I have a question about waterflow in the force.I was testing my 88 125 in a bucket as I don't use the ears and noticed water coming from the bolts which hold the bottom end to the housing and not very much out of the pee hole .So I took the lower end off thinking maybe I didn't torque a bolt down n the pump but it looks fine.I hooked a garden hose to the pickup tube to see if I had a blockage. water came out of the pee hole the exhaust snout and the I guess the exhaust part of the housing where the lower end bolts into .Is this normal or is there a seal in the head that might be gone ?

If water was truly coming out of bolt holes, something is amiss. Reconfirm.

The pic looks ok.Remember your putting a lot of water direct from a hose.
So it's gonna work right.
The bucket? How big?
The pump needs to be under water to work at an idle.
There is a seal under the head.
It would have to be pretty bad to leak.
What condition is the pump and housing?

On the sides of the water pump are two blind cavities. These cavities have two weep holes in the bottom of them (right near two of the lower unit mounting bolts) to drain water. This makes it appear that the bolts are leaking water. It is normal.

I actually have the motor in a huge tote that water covers up to the exhaust snoot .I was wandering as I installed another head last year and didn't check the condition the gasket or grommet on the water tube .The main reason was I didn't like the way the outboard sounded when I started it which led me to check and notice the water

When I took the head off last year ,there was no gasket underneath the head just rtv sealent ,so I did the same on installation .The pump looked ok a little pitted and a new impeller was put in ,thought I'm contemplating purchasing a new one I don't think the water is being sucked up as good as it use to.

So I went and installed a new impeller and pump started the motor and water seems to be filling the mid leg ,Water is even coming out of the shift rod area. Can anyone elaborate on a possible cause

Filling the mid leg? The gasket at the base of the motors bad. Or the pickup tube is cracked or it's missing the white gromet on top of the pump or it's not aligned right. Or the base plate has sprung a leak?
