I have a 1955 Johnson Seahorse 5.5 hp that was my great grandfathers. This thing is in mint condition and still runs. This motor has never been in saltwater of any kind as well. I'm trying to sell it but I have no idea how much something like this sells for. Any price range opinion would be great. thanks

welcome to iboats. does it run, when was last maintainance. if it has been sitting, several years it will take +-$200 to make it reliable. which is about the value of the motor.$150-350 running.

Hunn's book puts the value at $200, which is about what I'd reasonably pay assuming its in "mint" condition. Whoever buys it will surely have to drop $150 in it for a complete tune-up and impeller - running or not.

The hard part is realizing that the sentimental value has no value, BB.

I would never sell my GGranpa's treasure for any price.

I agree with that, JB. Once its gone its gone. I sure wish I still had my step-dads 1963 Johnson 3 hp. I inherited it when he died. I'd give a $1000 to have it back.
