Question about a jet drive

2005 Johnson 90 HP with a jet drive. Is it as simple as drop the jet drive and pop in a complete outdrive or is there more to it? Im looking at a motor with a jet drive but would feel better if I had a backup outdrive for down the road replacement.

That's a good question. I have one coming into the shop this weekend so I'll take a look and post something Tuesday if no one gives you a better answer. I would assume the water tube and shift rod are different.

That would be great. If I buy a complete outdrive I think the shift rod and water tube would come with it.

Are you talking a new or used jakedaawg? how did you make out on the replacement you were doing?
