Re: Question about glassing bottom of boat...

A picture update,
I have removed one half the gel coat so far. Boy isn't this fun  I am going to go block sand to get the remainder gel and to smooth out.

Hello Rick..

Your shape looks fine m8..

It this point .. Im wondering if it wouldnt be ok for a few coats of Interprotect 2000 ( or epoxy ) .. prep and paint..

Is there a special reason that you want to apply a layer of glass over the hull ?

YD.

There are a couple of places that the holes go all the way threw the glass. There a a couple of places where old repairs where performed that allowed water to saturate the glass. And over all the the bottom seems to be weak, thin, and very easily flexed which I believe would just cause the stress cracks to return. And that is just one side of the hull..lol I truly think if you saw this boat in person you would recommend fixing it with gas and a match lol.. But I really want to fix/finish this right, but within budgetary limits. I figure if I can finish this boat, it would give me a ton of good repair experience (or teach me never to do this again...)

Thanks for your help YD!
