Re: question about hydro-lock
It has happened to me twice: Once just sitting on the middle of lake with motor off and once after overheating. The first time we were all hanging around the aft and a big 35+ go fast went by pretty close. Hydro-loc = big wake+rear end loaded up+worn out flapper valves. Got the flappers replaced and I no longer encourage hanging out on the swim deckin deep water. Second time the engine overheated and when I shut it off I think the heat of the motor drew a vacum and water got past the flapper. Bear in mind that the Sea Ray I have, the motor is very low in the boat and I think prone to loc. I have learned to become manic about it and have not had any problems in a while.

I suggest you always have a spark plug socket, and a can of either starting fliud or wd40. If you find youself locked up pull the plugs rotate the motor and shoot some wd in the pistons right away, dry out the plugs and fire her up. Check for water in the oil.
My 2 cents
