Re: Question about J. Reeves WOT timing procedure
while this procedure is common,...esp,after an overhaul, etc,to get close,....it is far from a professional way of doing a critical component in an outboard..
Wide open timing,is set on a dyno,..or in a test tank, with a test wheel installed,....or hanging off the back, hoping u dont hit a big wave....i have had to do all 3.
I suggest,if u dont have a way to set the timing accurately, take it in to a shop,...this should always be done during a professional tune up.
Timing is critical for engine longevity, and to get the correct performance out of it,.....safely.
