So I've been having various engine troubles the past couple days.I just realized I'm not actually getting fuel to the engine via the bulb now.
I can pump and pump the bulb and it never gets hard.
Brand new factory OEM Quicksilver/Merc bulb. Brand new lines. The only thing I reused were the tank and motor fittings. They are the old push and turn type.
OK so I pulled the tank and line out of the boat and tried connecting to the tank and pumping. with the engine side connector removed and I got nothing. I tried pulling both connectors off the hose and dropping the pickup side into the gas tank and pumping, fuel starts flowing like whoa so it's not the bulb and lines.
I then pulled the fuel pickup out of the tank to see if it was clogged at the pickup filter and it's not. So I reconnected the link to the fuel pickup and dropped the end into some gas and tried to pump, nothing. I disconnected the fuel line and reconnected it and tries again and this time fuel flowed fine.
HRMMMMMM.... I disconnected and reconnected and now nothing.
I would appear there is a VERY small knick on the oring inside of the connector on the tank side. Also the oring is rock hard.
Could a small pressure leak keep it from picking up fuel? Can you buy these orings? Are they special or should I just hit the hardware store?
